The typical museum is one that focuses on things that happened in the past only.
The Railway Museum in Gävle (Sweden) has undergone a major and beautiful renovation and has just been re-inaugurated. In connection with this, a series of films has been produced about what the future of the railway might look like.
It is interesting to see the past, present and future in one place and for railways there’s a truly interesting story to be told. When the railways came along it added significant to society with regards to mobility of both people and goods. At the time all transport was with horses and horse carriages.
Railways has since been challenged by in particular two transport modes; road transport and flying. Both transport modes has advantages but represents also challenges in many ways including but not limited to congestion and emissions.
With the new mode of transport – Hyperloop – railways (now in vacuum tubes) once again takes quantum leap advancements and help in the fight against climate change.
